Gene Watson and the Farewell Party Band with Ray Lynam and Philomena Begley as the special Guests

Gene Watson says “ I have been on top. And I've been just as low as you can go.” All of those ups and downs give "a taste of the truth" to Gene's new album. He concludes, "There's a tremendous number of people around the world who continue to come out to hear some fiddle and steel and songs about heartbreak and real life," Gene says. "Those folks are there to support real country music and make it possible for singers like me to continue to sing it.!”

I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who made the 3rd Annual Country-Fest a huge success, the event passed without a hitch and the weather stayed dry for the weekend.

There was a super effort for all involved from Acts, Staff and to all the thousands of Country fans who attended the Festival and I also want to thank Micheal Naughton and the Clan Ree staff for all they done over the weekend in providing a perfect location for the event.

We will take a look in coming weeks at the success of this year’s Fest and also ways we can build on the future. Many Thanks - James McGarrity.

Following the success of her last tour with JW Promotions Bonnie Tyler will re-toured Ireland again in June 2010.

Bonnie recorded her debut single ‘Lost In France’ and it was an international hit, going top 10 in Britain and becoming a million-seller in America. Her single ‘It's A Heartache’ was a worldwide smash, and remains her biggest selling single. Bonnie has become a crossover talent, being played on pop, country and soul radio stations.
 

With a fantastic line up of the Best of Irish artists Featuring Bagatelle, Johnny Fean from the Horslips and his band, The Dublin City Ramblers and Johnny McEvoy this collection of specular artists had your toes tapping to the fine tune of many irish hits

Bagatelle with a string of hits such as "Summer in Dublin" and "Second Violin" performing to many sell out audiences over the last few years had you singing along on the night. Brendan "Brush" Shiels (born in 1952, in Dublin) an Irish musician from County Dublin, best known for being the frontman of Gary Moore's first band, Skid Row. Brush Shiels had a TV show on RTÉ called 'Off yer Brush' and was at one point managed by Louis Walsh. He now appears regularly providing musical accompaniment on the Joe Duffy Liveline radio program on RTÉ and still performs live around venues in the UK and Ireland. The Dublin City Ramblers having 8 Gold Albums, and a wealth of experience in the industry provided a fantastic set to liven up the night. County Clare man Johnny Fean an inspirational Celtic Rock and Blues artist. Best known as guitarist/vocalist with the legendary Horslips joined the line up with his fine musical ability
Big O’ was on hand to provide a few laughs as the compere for the night.

The Kings and Queens of Country Show toured the theatres of Northern Ireland this June for the forth annual run, this year saw an injection of very talented youthful Country singers.

The “Summer Country Concert Tour “with the Stars was a huge success with country music's hottest stars and we will re -tour in December doing seven dates across Ireland. Line-up to be released in coming weeks.

Nanci Griffith says that her approach to songwriting hasn’t changed over the years.  “I just never know, any given day, what I’m going to wake up to.”  Once she’s inspired, “it just all comes at once.”  Even when working with collaborators, the idea driving the session has to be very strong.  “If we don’t get something in twenty minutes, I’m done.  It’s a very unique process and I don’t write with a lot of people.

The Grand Ladies of Country show featuring Billie Jo Spears, Philomena Begley, Stella Parton, Georgette Jones and Leona Williams will toured in March 2010 taking in eleven major cities in Ireland.

Following the huge success of the 2009 tour Billie Joe Spears and Philomena Begley did a 7 date intimate tour in late March 2010. .

The Grand Old Opry of Ireland show - These where fantastic shows -- The Queen of Country Music Philomena Begley, the fantastic Sandy Kelly and one of our top male crooners Brendan Quinn in a 2 hour toe-tapping feet stamping musical feast that saw a string of top hits like “ Blanket on the Ground, Queen of the Silver dollar, Crazy, Suspicious Minds and Daddy Frank being played.

The 'Country-Fest 2009' with four 'live' stages was a great success on Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd August 2009 it was held in the Kings Hall Belfast.

Acts like Randy Travis, Martina McBride, Ray Price, Connie Smith, Doug Stone, Hal Ketchum, Georgette Jones, Vernon Oxford, Roly Daniels.

Cara Dillon seems to have seduced the entire nation in just a couple of short, breathtaking, eventful years. Make that several nations, for among the rare ingredients of her irresistibly natural personality and mesmerising ability to relate a great story in song is an all-embracing quality that defies borders, cultures and even languages.

Country-Fest 2008took place in Mid-Ulster on the 2nd & 3rd August 2008. The event saw a host of International, National and local stars perform on 3 stages in an event that has never been seen on our shores before.

Acts that appeared included American country star George Jones, Nanci Griffith, Stonewall Jackson, Gene Watson, Colin Raye, Jimmy Buckley, Mike Denver, Robert Mizzell, John McNicholl, Philomena Begley, Shaun Cuddy, Roly Daniels, Justin McGurk, Tony Kerr, Liam McLoughlin, Leanne and Carrie Benn, Bonnie Stewart, Rod and Tracey McAuley, Louise Morrissey, Sean Corrigan and Country Harmony.

George Jones had a great tour playing to standing ovations every show.

George is one of the greatest of American honky tonk singers, but he has also been a victim of its lifestyle. He learned guitar in his youth, and in 1947, was hired by the husband-and-wife duo Eddie And Pearl. This developed into his own radio program and a fellow disc jockey, noting his close-set eyes and upturned nose, nicknamed him "The Possum."

The 2008 tour was a great success playing to full houses at every show. The brothers where joined on stage by special guests Mike Denver, Robert Mizzell and Country Harmony. www.bellamybrothers.com  

The Bellamy Brothers are a country music duo composed of two brothers – Howard and David Bellamy – who enjoyed an amazing run of success starting in the mid 1970s. They are the most successful duo in country music history.

Brent Mason has just completed a very successful tour of Ireland with JW Promotions.

According to many publications Brent has owned country music for over a decade with at least seven out of ten of the songs in the top ten at any given time - not annually - being played on by him since the early nineties. All this talent and hard work have not gone unnoticed. The CMA (Country Music Association) named him “Musician of the Year” for two consecutive years.

Roy Chubby Brown

Famous for being known as Britain’s rudest, bluest comedian has entertained and offended the masses. LEWD, crude and extremely rude, it could only be Roy "Chubby" Brown who is celebrated 40 years in showbiz this year, this Northern comedian is still shocking audiences. With his own inimitable style of humour that people have come to know and expect. He is admired by men and adored by women from the moment that he comes on stage until he leaves to the rapturous applause from the sell-out house that he always secures.

The Northern Ireland Country Music Awards 2010 took place on Wednesday 7th April in the Tullyglass Hotel Ballymena.

A great show and a great success the Northern Ireland Country Music Awards 2009.

All the main stars in the Country Music scene where at the N.I. Country Music Awards in the Tullyglass Hotel, Ballymena. The event highlighted the achievements and recognised the talents of our countries top country music performers. There where a number of award categories and on the night various TV personalities hosted the event with a full live band, and live performances from a selection of the nominees.

JW Promotions finished a successful run of dates with the world famous Harlem Gospel Choir in 06 and 07 and intend to tour with them again in 2009.

The World famous Harlem Gospel Choir, who sang ‘I still haven¹t found what I¹m looking for’ with Bono on U2¹s ³Rattle and Hum² album, are coming back to Ireland. They return with their thrilling, foot-stomping, hand clapping show of blues, jazz and gospel spirituals and will play various venues nationwide.
